SKALE Tops Dartmouth Blockchain Study as the Fastest Blockchain Network | SKALE

Marcos Sanchez
Head of Communications

Every blockchain has made claims about how fast their transactions and finality are, but understanding whether those numbers align with reality is controversial. After numerous conversations with developers in the community, it became clear that these numbers were often inaccurate, based on unrealistic setups, or pitching to a future, but not as of yet attained value.

Developers were in need of some third party benchmarking they could reference when assessing whether to build on a given blockchain network. That’s when SKALE decided to commission the Dartmouth Blockchain group to not only do a project deep dive, but also conduct third party testing. 8 Networks were evaluated as a part of the testing which included: Ethereum, Solana, Near, Avalanche, Polygon, Fantom, Flow, and of course SKALE.

After rigorous testing, the Dartmouth Blockchain group published their findings. Their methodology included the Dartmouth Blockchain group consulting with developers who worked on these respective chains, as well as core teams from each tested network. Additionally, a whitepaper was included at the end of the Op-Ed that details their testing methodology.

Dartmouth Blockchain noted, “After a thorough review of SKALE’s technical back-end infrastructure, combined with its continued commitment to supplying computing resources for those who wish to endeavor in the dApp space, it is clear that SKALE has a concrete road map to what they want to accomplish, goals for the future, and the problem they are trying to solve in the crypto-world for up-and-coming developers.”

Key Takeaways:
  • Of the 8 blockchains tested, SKALE had the fastest TPS, with Solana coming in a not too distant second.
  • Polygon came in second to last, just above Ethereum, and Near came in last.
  • SKALE was 19X faster than Polygon and 30X faster than Ethereum on TPS.
  • SKALE achieved the fastest finality at 1.46 seconds and only three blockchains were able to achieve sub 2 second times (Fantom and Avalanche were second and third fastest).

About SKALE

SKALE is an Ethereum native, modular blockchain network composed of high-throughput, low-latency blockchains that are optimized for Web3 user experience. SKALE chains offer zero gas fees to end-users and have advanced features such as on-chain file storage, interchain messaging, zero-cost minting, ML/AI smart contracts, and enhanced security features.

The SKALE network enables developers to deploy their own EVM blockchain in minutes without sacrificing speed, security, or decentralization. Welcome to the SKALEverse.
