Partner Spotlight: How Gunnies is Redefining Web3 Gaming with Every Kill

Welcome to our latest installment of the SKALE Partner Spotlight series! Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Gunnies, a zany, fast-paced third-person shooter that’s bringing a new standard to Web3 gaming. In this feature, we’ll dive into what makes the game so unique, why the team chose to build on SKALE, and what exciting opportunities lie ahead as they continue to grow and push the boundaries of onchain gameplay.
What are you building?
Gunnies is a zany, explosive, and chaotic fast-paced TPS that blends PvPvE deathmatches, deadly traps, and relentless Zombunnies. The IP was developed by a team with experience at Marvel, DC & Cartoon Network.
Key Highlights:
- FFA or squad up for survival
- Earn xKhaos tokens + NFT rewards in battle
- Zombies drop loot (and regrets)
- Exclusive leaderboards with prizes on the line
- Skins, skills, and complete Bunny customization
What makes Gunnies special that we are doing as well is putting more onchain than ever before and we believe that by doing so, we are building a new standard for web3 games with Gunnies. This means not only having tokens and NFTs onchain, but also tracking in-game stats such as kills.
This is all possible due to the gas-free architecture of SKALE, all these transactions do not require the user to pay for it, making the gameplay as smooth as humanely possible while still having every aspect onchain.
What makes your project unique?
We’re taking gaming in web3 to the next level. All transactions for in game currency, opening chests and lootboxes, even kills inside the game will be broadcasted on the SKALE Network.
How is this all done?
Stack utilization:
Through the Pentagon Games abstraction/internal wallet whenever a user creates a Pentagon Games account, we create a linked internal account on behalf of the user. Since the game requires an account login, wallet creation is by default.
- On chain kill count implementation
Every kill goes through the server which in turn will be pushed onchain. The data would be pushed in the format of MatchID, killer, and killedby. - Coin/Karrots in-game currency onchain replication
Every transaction, credit, debit, and utilization will be performed on behalf of the user through the internal wallet. For example, if a user spends 300 coins to open a skins lootbox, then it will appear as an onchain interaction. - Web store
Implementing a web store allowing users to buy in-game packages directly using tokens including SKL or fiat (using Stripe). - NFT collections
Skill cards will be tradeable as NFTs. Premium NFT Seasonal passes will also be available, such as Kaboom Pass. These passes allow holders to open 10 lootboxes per day, receive two times the leaderboard rewards, and also receive a Gunnies Gang subscription in-game. - Daily lootbox contract
Users come and open lootboxes to earn leaderboard points and token rewards. Each user can open up to 5 lootboxes per day, or 10 (if they have the premium NFT).
xKhaos:
A placeholder non-tradeable token that is given out as rewards. This will be replaced with the Khaos token once the TGE takes place. Since these transactions are on behalf of the user, there is no obstruction in gameplay, while making something as simple as every kill trackable onchain.
Why did you choose SKALE?
The simple answer is that you can’t build a real-time shooter on a slow, gas-heavy chain. It just doesn’t work. SKALE’s gas-free, invisible blockchain infrastructure enables Gunnies to achieve the speed that we need in order to scale. With the way a SKALE chain is configured, we don’t have to compromise the user experience in order to implement the onchain aspects that we desire.
Why should other developers choose SKALE?
For all the reasons we just mentioned! If you are looking for a gas-free, invisible blockchain that is purposefully built for speed and scalability, SKALE is the way to go.
